Symposium Overview

Sleep medicine is evolving.  Rapidly.   New drugs are hit the market every day – many of which directly affect sleep.  Technology is changing, whether it’s patients talking about their apple watches and aura rings, or new testing equipment that pushes the envelope of what we thought was possible.  And let’s not forget the new, emerging therapies are making waves with segments of our profession, and leaving most of us wondering what (if any) evidence backs up these claims.

Against this backdrop The Airway Symposium offers a collaborative, multi-disciplinary, full day event to explore the rapidly evolving field of sleep medicine.  All clinicians who practice in sleep medicine are welcomed to attend, whether: dentistry, medicine, orofacial myology, speech-language pathology, dental hygiene, nursing, or respiratory technology.

Symposium Objectives

  • Examine the science behind advances wearable technology, clinical application, and emerging sleep testing options
  • Explore the increasingly relevant role of pharmacology in sleep medicine
  • Review the evidence for early orthodontic interventions in treatment of airway dysfunction and sleep disordered breathing
